Facing destitution after Chester's presumed death, Joanie enters the Payne mansion carrying his unborn child, determined to secure her son's future. Five years later, Chester resurfaces — alive but amnesiac. To protect her child, Joanie weaves an illusion of devotion, seducing him into believing their love was real.
